Sydney Sexsmith

Sydney is an Articling Student with Lift Legal and is excited to expand her knowledge, particularly, with an interest in family law.

She is eager to develop her practical skills, working closely and collaboratively with colleagues and clients to deliver effective legal solutions.

Sydney is an Articling Student with an interest in family law.
Sydney first joined Lift Legal as a 2L Summer Student assisting on a business law project and gained valuable exposure to client focused legal work.
Sydney is excited to return to Lift Legal as an Articling Student and to continue building and contributing to the Lift Legal team.

Sydney earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree from MacEwan University and then a Juris Doctor from the University of Alberta in 2026.
During law school, Sydney built a strong foundation in legal research, writing and advocacy, developing a keen interest in litigation.

Sydney was born and raised in St. Albert and is proud to be beginning her professional career in the local community.
During her undergraduate and law school years, she worked at a local fashion boutique, combining her longstanding interest in fashion with the opportunity to build meaningful connections within the community. Before beginning law school, Sydney volunteered with the City of St. Albert Youth Advisory Committee, an experience which further developed her interest in community engagement and leadership.
Sydney devoted thirteen years to competitive figure skating, where she was exposed at a young age how to excel under pressure, balance competing priorities and incorporate criticism into her work.
Outside of the office, Sydney enjoys live music and spending time with family and friends. She grew up around golf and can comfortably hold her own on the course, but her real interest lies behind the scenes in turf care maintenance.
